Aiming to realize a future of "Cultural synergy" where people with diverse backgrounds and cultures live as "good neighbors" and support each other in society,
We have been working through trial and error to help foreign residents living in Japan become even a little more familiar with Japanese society.

This was realized as an attempt to transform support and interaction from being "something special" into "everyday connections and trust,"
This is the main project, the "Otonari-san Family Friend Program."
More than 1,700 foreign participants and Japanese volunteers have taken part so far.

Furthermore, Spot Otonari-san, learning support for children with foreign roots, support for the lives of refugees and displaced persons,
We have expanded our activities to better address the daily challenges faced by foreign residents, such as through consultation services for daily life.

Participants in the Otonari-san Family Friend Program.
Those who support JII as volunteers, pro bono workers, or through donations.
Thanks to the warm and encouraging support of everyone who has been involved with JII so far, we have been able to reach this point.

This certification is the result of the recognition of our journey together with everyone, and it also marks a new beginning for us.

A society where foreign residents living in Japan can overcome isolation and lack of information caused by language and system differences, and live with peace of mind as members of the local community.
And a society where Japanese residents and foreign residents connect as "good neighbors" and create new value through encounters with diverse cultures.

From now on, we will continue working to realize such a future,
We are committed to providing support tailored to each individual and fostering community connections.

Donations to JII made on or after June 4, 2026, will be eligible for tax benefits such as donation deductions!

By being certified as a recognized NPO, donations to JII are also eligible for donation tax deductions.

<Donations from Individuals>
When an individual makes a donation, by filing a tax return,
You can use the following two types of tax incentive programs.
Donors can choose the system that is most advantageous for themselves.

① Tax Credit
You can directly deduct 40% of the amount obtained by subtracting 2,000 yen from the total annual donation amount from your income tax.
[Tax Credit Amount = (Total Annual Donation Amount − 2,000 yen) × 40%]
*1 The total annual donation amount is limited to 40% of the total income amount
*2 The deduction limit is equivalent to 25% of the income tax amount

② Income Deduction
You can deduct the amount obtained by subtracting 2,000 yen from the total annual donation amount from your total income for that year.
【Amount of Income Deduction: Total Annual Donation Amount − 2,000 yen】

* The total annual donation amount is limited to the equivalent of 40% of the total income amount

In general, “① Tax Credit” is often more effective in reducing tax burden, but

For high-income earners or those with large annual donations, "② Income Deduction" may be more advantageous.

In addition, donations to certified NPO corporations designated by ordinances of your prefecture or municipality may be eligible for a resident tax deduction (up to 10%). Please contact your local government for more details.

< Donations from Corporations >
When a corporation makes a donation, by completing the prescribed procedures, it can use the "Special Deductible Limit for Losses" separately from general donations.
As a result, the upper limit of the donation amount that can be included as a deductible expense increases, and compared to general donations, a higher corporate tax saving effect can be expected.
For more details, please consult a tax accountant or your nearest tax office.

We appreciate your continued support.

Certification as a Certified NPO Corporation is not the goal, but a new beginning.
Having reached a new stage, we aim to further expand our activities, reaching more people, more deeply,
We want to support foreign residents in Japan both in their daily lives and emotionally.

We would be grateful if you could support JII not only by joining as a member but also through donations on this occasion.

Once again, we sincerely thank everyone who has been involved with JII for their warm support up to now.
We sincerely ask for your continued support of JII as it embarks on this new stage.
