At JII, we hold the "Hanamaru Class" every other Saturday to support children with foreign roots in learning Japanese and other subjects. On Saturday, May 10th, the "Hanamaru Class" featured a special event: a craft session themed around the beloved picture book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"!
Once again, many children joined us, making it a lively and enjoyable time.
Our guide this time was Mr. Y, a volunteer with the Otonari-san Family Friend Program (OFP) and a former teacher. The materials Mr. Y prepared were thoughtfully designed down to the colors and shapes, perfectly crafted to spark the children’s excitement and creativity to say, “I want to make this!” ✨
Before starting the craft activity, the volunteers received instructions from Mr. Y on how to proceed. They carefully guided each child in charge, using a mix of English and Japanese. Thanks to their support, everyone was able to focus and enjoy creating their projects with big smiles 😊✂️🎨
Each completed caterpillar was full of personality and absolutely adorable 💚
It was a heartwarming moment, as if the world of picture books unfolded right before our eyes.
Thank you to everyone who joined us!
The next "Hanamaru Class" will return to the regular schedule and will be held on May 24, June 7, and June 21 🌈 We look forward to continuing our fun Japanese lessons, so stay tuned! ♪
