On Saturday, 5/16, we held the Intercultural Art Workshop.
The theme is "Bridging Cultural Differences".
Enjoy creativity and self-expression through collage and drawing.
Then, gather around the work and share your thoughts and feelings with each other.
This workshop aims to create a warm and welcoming space where everyone can feel safe and connected.
We also organized this event with the hope that OFP members can meet new people and enjoy a fun time together 🍀
On the day, we had seven participants, including those currently paired in OFP exchanges and former pairs 😊

Once the introductions are done, let's jump right into production time!
On a large white drawing paper, you can choose magazine pieces yourself, cut or tear them into your preferred sizes, paste them, and add drawings with a pen...
Expressing your own understanding of "overcoming cultural differences."
It was impressive to see everyone carefully reflecting on their own experiences and memories, thoughtfully deciding "which photo to select." 💡

Once your work is completed, it's time to present it.
The meaning of the cut-out photos, the significance of their placement... each element reflects your personal story, both past and future.
And those pieces came together to form what I believe is the way to overcome cultural differences, expressed as a work of art.

After the presentation, we also had a Q&A session.
"What does this photo represent?" "How did you overcome this (such as the challenges you faced)?"
Everyone was very curious about each other's work. It was impressive to see how everyone showed genuine interest in each other's creations and experiences 😊
As everyone was leaving, we were delighted to hear many say, "That was fun!" 🙌
Not only expressing yourself, but also encountering the experiences and perspectives of people you have never met before,
I believe it was also a time for new discoveries and moments of empathy 🥰
You can feel the unique journey and emotions of each individual through a single piece of work,
It was a warm and enriching space where all participants could share and empathize with each other 🌟
Also, in a warm and welcoming environment like today, everyone—Japanese or foreign—can feel safe to express themselves freely,
It was a moment that reminded us of the importance and value of creating spaces where people can share their feelings.
Since this was our first time trying this project, I was honestly quite nervous,
We believe that this event was made possible thanks to the participation of everyone involved.
We sincerely thank everyone who participated. Thank you very much 😊
