On Sunday, December 7, 2025, we held the Otonari-san exchange meeting in Omotesando! This was the first in-person exchange meeting in three years, and it was attended by 50 people, far exceeding the capacity.
"What kind of presence is the other person to each other?" ― Otonari-san Pair Experiences
On the day, the pairs shared their experiences, discussing various topics such as "What kind of presence is the other person to each of you?" and "If you were to describe Otonari-san in one word?" Despite the three pairs having completely different backgrounds and attributes, they deeply felt the significance of their experiences as Otonari-san. For us organizers, it was a precious opportunity to hear the participants' voices firsthand, and it was a very heartwarming time.
The Importance of “Empathy” ― Economic Research・Associate Professor Goto
Guest speaker Associate Professor Goto spoke about the importance of "empathy" based on economic research, sharing valuable insights with everyone on overcoming division. The academic world, which is usually difficult to approach, was made relatable to everyday life through Professor Goto's clear explanations.
Message Toward Realizing Cultural Synergy
During the interaction time, we gathered around sweets from various countries, shared our current interests with each other, and finally, everyone posted messages aimed at realizing Cultural synergy on wooden posters, followed by a group commemorative photo. The atmosphere was warm throughout, creating a space where people felt safe to listen, filled with laughter. The secretariat is very happy to have been able to share future dreams with everyone.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Berta for kindly providing the venue, Professor Goto for his presentation, the pairs who shared their experiences, and everyone who actively participated.
