With the support of the Akai Hane Post-Corona Society Welfare Activity Support Campaign "Emergency Activity Support Grant for People Who Have Lost Their Place (7th Edition)," we have completed the grant period from October 2023 to the end of March 2024 and are now releasing the activity report.
Currently, there are over 3 million foreigners living in Japan, facing various anxieties and difficulties related to language, social culture, lifestyle, and systems. The challenges of integrating into Japanese communities further deepen their sense of isolation.
JII's activities are not limited to supporting foreign residents. Japanese volunteers (Otonari-san) in each community build genuine trust with foreign residents, serving as close advisors and friends to help them live with peace of mind and integrate into Japanese society. Our activities steadily create such a third place where residents can support each other.
People who have just arrived in Japan and cannot speak Japanese, children of foreign roots born and raised in Japan, children who came to Japan due to their parents' circumstances, foreign mothers experiencing pregnancy and childbirth for the first time in Japan, refugees and evacuees who have fled to Japan. Our activities, together with Otonari-san who provide close support, transform their unfamiliar, lonely, and anxious lives into ones filled with joy and kindness.
We sincerely thank the members of the Community Chest for supporting our activities.
