Let's Live Together with Foreign Residents
A vibrant and rich society created through cultural synergy

As of the end of 2021, there are over 2.46 million foreigners living in Japan (with 530,000 in Tokyo). According to JICA's projections, this number is expected to increase to around 6.74 million by 2040, which is approximately 2.7 times the current figure.

However, foreign residents face challenges such as "information disparity" and "isolation," leading to various difficulties and anxieties in their lives in Japan. We have much more work to do to create a more welcoming and livable society that fosters appealing coexistence.

Challenges in accessing healthcare, education, government, and welfare services
・Challenges and isolation in pregnancy, childbirth, parenting, and education
・Lack of opportunities for visitors to Japan to learn and improve their Japanese language skills
・Lack of essential information for daily life
・Lack of connection with the local community's culture and the Japanese community
・The persistent reality of prejudice and discriminatory treatment
- The challenges faced by children with foreign heritage in education, career paths, and social adaptation
・Barriers to acceptance and isolation in schools and workplaces
・Pressure stemming from concerns about deviating from various customs in Japanese society
A sense of frustration from not being able to find opportunities to effectively showcase one's strengths in Japanese society
